On June 7, the 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) will open at the Shenzhen World Exhibition Convention Center. Expected to have 3,596 government delegations, enterprises and institutions participating both online and offline, this year’s Cultural Fair will also have a 540 square meters Hainan Pavilion with 15 exhibitors putting on a wonderful show focusing on displaying the island province’s characteristic culture and related cultural and creative products.

The Pavilion will have 3 exhibition areas dedicated respectively to key cultural development parks and projects, the display and sales of cultural and creative products, and the exhibition of Hainan’s fine arts. As a nod to the free trade port’s unique cultural heritage, the display and sales area will include elements of Hainan’s local Li ethnicity, tropical marine culture, tropical rainforest, and references to Su Dongpo, a world-renownedChinese Song Dynasty poet, statesman, and gastronome.
The international resources that the ICIE lost during the restrictions of the past three years— especially resources in the European market— are rapidly returning. At more than 300 international exhibitors from 50 countries and regions participating this year, this is the highest numbers have been since the emergence of Covid-19 in 2020.
Taking the 10th anniversary of the \"Belt and Road\" initiative as an opportunity, this Fair will feature a \"Belt and Road\" international exhibition area (including European, Asian, Middle Eastern, African, and Latin American exhibition areas, and an area focusing on cultural imports and trade). Focusing on topics related to cultural tourism, performing arts and entertainment, arts and crafts, creative design, and digital culture, the “Belt and Road” Area of the Fair has attracted numerous cultural institutions and commercial organizations from outside of China.
Some notable attendees to this year’s ICIE include the French Industrial Design Association and the Sino-French Brand “Bonjour Brand” (both coming for the first time) and Belgian digital art studio Dirty Monitor with digital cultural content.
With the reopening of China, the number of professional visitors from other countries is also expected to see a significant increase over last year with an expected 20,000 visitors from more than 100 countries and regions.
Also of note, because this year’s ICIE is focusing on themes of cultural import and export, a number of events (such as the 2023 China Cultural Trade Development Forum and the Cultural Import and Export Fair) will be held to deepen international cultural exchanges and cooperation, and all sorts of early docking, matchmaking, negotiation and cooperation activities between domestic and international exhibitors and buyers will be organized.
